hiding tulips I don't know if you've heard, but Poloroid film is back in production making many many people jump for joy. I myself have owned several poloroid cameras (not that I know where they are now) including the classic, the wide version, and the little izone sticker poloroid camera. my friends and I used them as a guest book at a going away party for a dear friend. we tacked up poloroids of every one of the rotating tenants in our apartment in our kitchen. because over the last two yearspoloroid film was hard to come by, I entrusted a friends "regular" high tech, digital camera to take the photobooth pics at our wedding. yeah, that didn't work out . I still haven't seen the few photos that did end up getting taken. in any case, with the return of poloroid film, I thought I'd do what any fan would do, take pictures on my crappy blackberry camera and put them through polodroid . yes, you too can make your regular pictures look like poloroid pi...

so I have a giant flowering tree/bush of this gorgeous stuff in my backyard. last weekend I trimmed a few branches and brought them into the house to liven it up a bit. oh how I love love love fresh flowers (I seem to forget until I break down and buy some or they appear in my yard unexpectedly). anyway, does anyone know what this lovely branch is called? the blossoms are bigger than anything fruit bearing and the thing hasn't ever beared any fruit to my knowledge. it doesn't even really look like a tree, more of a large shrubbery and I know that it isn't camelia either. ah spring. {image via d*s , which labelled it quince, but it doesn't look like the same quince on wikipedia}

note the little bowls of fruit and the lovely raw (silk maybe) table runner. i can't wait to do a test table in my dining room. and then do it again for a dinner or a brunch. i want to believe i'll do lovely tables and fun dinners after the wedding. i already do the fun dinners, I just haven't done too many set tables. maybe that should start now. {from ce petit coeur }

I would love to do this at my tables. Just little bowls of tomatoes for color and random snacking. they'd add depth and interest to the table to have those square vases filled with them... would tomatoes be less expensive than flowers? { here }

seeing these makes me want to rethink my colors. or at least just add a few in.  { here } ooh, and milk bottles. (poppies and ranunculus are out of season for me, but the colors and milk bottles are so lovely) why oh why do I have to love informal things and yet have such a formal venue?  So, I threw my back out, you know, while working out so I'll be thin and svelte for the big day. So now I'm laid up on the couch with periodic shooting pains in my lower back. stupid crunches. It's a beautiful day again, and I feel like I should be outside, but of course, if I were not in pain, I would be in my office. sigh. I guess lying on my couch, blogging until my battery dies is better than work.

I am so in love with this rehearsal dinner from smp. this would so be my wedding if... well. so, my venue offered us a bunch of those square vases, which i like, but, i loooove these tall beaker style vases. set just like these with three to a table and a couple of candles. where do I get these? no really, where? and her dress. oooh. love the details on the skirt. {dress - vicente villarin photos - jose villa (of course) events - alison events from style me pretty }

love the bouquet... adore these flowers atop perfect little cakes... and if we were anywhere outdoors, I'm just not over the bride riding the bike, especially not since that's what G does for a living. { frolic }via{ martha }

I have already thought about adding cherry tomatoes to my tables to go with the red and orange dahlias. I know that I'm going to be rearranging my dining room table all summer long as soon as the dahlias are really in bloom. I have these mini dahlias growing in pots in my back yard, but it's rained so much lately, I wouldn't be surprised if they all died. Anyway. more food for thought (no pun intended). {snippet & ink - here }

So, I just want to say how honored I am that Heather from we met in a bar gave me props on her gorgeous site ( here ). I posted this dahlia bouquet which I saw on a practical wedding ( here ). Apparently Heather and I both want dahlias, and why not? They are big and fluffy and gorgeous and IN SEASON in September. Which leads me to a comment I got from Tina on a different post ( here ). Tina said her florist told her that dahlias are out of season?! I find that really rude, because they are IN SEASON and readily available (at least here in Seattle) and when you do the flower finder on Real Simple.com guess what comes up -- that's right, dahlias. So here's my issue: I believe that Tina may have hired a florist that is a liar, and possibly lazy. Who knows maybe she doesn't like dahlias for some reason, but if Tina wants dahlias in September, I think she should have dahlias, especially because she is paying for a florist to find them and make something beautiful for ...

I'm sooooo back to wanting a dahlia bouquet. I just hadn't seen this before. From Meg's gorgeous amazing fantastic site a practical wedding - this is from Selina and Jeremy's real wedding . and um, hello? this lovely bride (Ember) has my colors exactly? Again, Meg has not let me down.

So, I want simple centerpieces, each with just a few flowers in bud vases, but many buds in many vases adds up to a lot. So, thanks to my mom for stumbling upon save-on-crafts . I love this site! What do you put dahlias in (a top heavy bloom) so that they won't fall over? Something with a weighted base: Spring Valley Crisa vases 5" tall - box of 6 for $8.34 ($1.39 a piece) Cocktail Decanter carafes 3-3/4" tall - box of 72 for $97.20 ($1.35 a piece) Vase gems assortment, clear, ice blue & cobalt blue - 24 packages for $23.76 ($.99 per pkg) And extra vase gems could be scattered on the table to catch extra light from candles, etc. (if I decide I need to be that messy).

The oragami flower branch is so amazing. I saw them on SMP but go here for Thryn's directions on her wedlog . And then Thryn's wrapped cupcakes with the small cutting cake on top, could easily be translated to my cheesecakes.
