alchemy

I think I have mentioned before that I have a bag problem . G wonders why I need to have so many reusable bags. I'm trying to save the world! I argue. Okay, actually I have an irrational guilt issue and if I buy too many groceries or I forget to bring a bag (which so rarely happens anymore because my purse is filled with those tiny little envirosacs that tuck into a ball with no size or weight impingements) I end up buying another reusable bag. But just think of the swirling mass of plastic in the Pacific! Think of the dolphins and sea turtles and fishes!  Anyway, I have long coveted the Alchemy Goods bags from my local, Seattle designers who reuse cool things to make cool reusable bags. Yep, like this:  { alchemy bag via reuseit } I haven't bought one so far because, well I have a lot of bags and they are a little pricey but, I got one on sale . So there. * on sale!

don't over think it

Often when I stumble on something truly amazing, it is because I am struck by its simplicity. For example, months ago I clipped out a picture of an obi belt from Vogue (not pictured). Maybe because I wasn't yet fully convinced by the wide belted waist trend yet and this was my turning point, my subtle convincing (add an Asian inspired twist to just about anything and my mouth starts watering (mmm sushi)), but I suddenly became enamored with this obi belt. Of course being in Vogue it was probably Versace or Prada or Miu Miu or something making it like a million dollars. But I clipped it thinking, oh yeah, I can totally make this . But, like many things, I did not even attempt to make the belt. I thought about it a lot. I realized that I should buy some interfacing at the fabric store. I thought about the length, sketched it out, considered how to make it cross just right at the small of my back without being a big jumbled knot, and then, just like that, I dropped it. If fell to the ...

figs

{ figs } Back when G and I were looking about for ties, I hunted a bit on-line by myself, but I knew, as picky as he is, that he would have his say in what he wore. In the end he bought a gorgeous tie that went beautifully with my dress. But, had I seen these first, I think we may have gone in a different direction. Not only are these some of the coolest ties I've ever seen, but for every tie purchase, FIGS gives a school uniform to a child in Africa in order for them to attend school . G doesn't wear ties on a day to day basis, but I may have to start finding some men who do. Or me. I think I may have to have one of those pure british woolen ties in pink. and did you see the one with the little bicycles? and hello, polka dots!

belted

this morning I woke up and knew I had to do the belted sweater look. unfortunately, when I put the skinny red belt over my grey sweater this morning, I realized that I bought that particular belt to wear on my jeans, around my hips. and wear it I do. lucky enough for me that means that my belt looked too big and a bit sloppy around my true waist. hooray for having hips that are wider than my waist, but boo for needing a new belt. or, yay for needing a new belt! And this obi style belt should do me just nicely. it can't be too big or small for just around the waist. and it would go around sweaters and dresses and jackets, oh my! { anthropologie of course}

favorite earrings ever

last year I bought two pairs of earrings from pretty as a posie , one for a present, one for me, (top pic) I just couldn't help myself. so for christmas, I bought another friend the gorgeous little purple dagger pendant you see here and couldn't help but purchase the earrings at the bottom. I couldn't help but think that they would look perfect with the vintage necklace (my grandma's) that I wore on my wedding day. and I was so right. everything I've ordered from her is even better in person. what are you waiting for? {images: pretty as a posie }

sparkles

i think i may need a sparkly cardigan so that i'm warm while prancing around in my underwears. just sayin'. {from bits of beauty }

how many years was it?

when G asked me to marry him, nearly one year ago, he knew I'd want to pick out my own ring. He bought an inexpensive silver ring that had six intertwined pieces - a puzzle ring. six pieces because he couldn't find a ring with eight for the eight years we had been together, and a puzzle ring because "everyone is so puzzled as to why I haven't asked you yet." yeah, a bit cheesy, but aren't all romantic things a little cheesy? the problem was, the ring was huge. it didn't even fit my thumb. and since I wanted a ring on my finger "right now!!" we went to the store and exchanged it for one that fit. they didn't have the puzzle ring he bought me in my size and they actually had a pretty terrible selection overall so we left with a rather plain, temporary ring that was still a little too big. I just have small hands. now, I could have picked any engagement ring I wanted (within reason of course) but I'm not a diamond solitaire kind of girl, I f...

the color

I just saw these on first comes love and I so had to have them. I think this is the blue color that I will integrate with the fire orange dahlias. If they are as perfect as they look here, I will need an art deco brooch, that has black and this sapphire blue to put the whole thing together. love? from etsy's Lizix26 , she's got other beautiful goodies too.

on sweet relief and total panic

thank you erin . you're my hero. So everyone has seen these pics of Hillary's awesome crinoline dress floating all over the web, but despite my starring and labeling in my google reader, I couldn't find any of them anywhere. So erin found them for me over at delesie . The whole spread is gorgeous. And finally knowing names, I found I did star it when I first saw it on green wedding shoes . Why am I painstakingly searching for this dress all of a sudden? Only a week after G proposed, I went on a two day jaunt to Portland, Or with my man of honor (bride's man?) Jason. We stumbled upon a cute little bridal/party dress shop owned by a local designer Lena Medoyeff . There, I tried on several, one of a kind, not white dresses, and Jason said I looked stunning and amazing in this midnight blue, raw silk, cocktail dress. I agreed, I look hot in this dress. Although I was worried it wasn't quite special enough, or maybe not bride enough, but I thought I could give i...

wrapped around my finger

So, I know I already have an engagement ring, but now I want this one. from plum & sage . {do you think this has to do with the fact that I haven't found my wedding ring yet? {plus five more months of the ring I did choose cutting into my other two fingers. when choosing your rings, may I recommend a comfort fit ring with less of the sharp edges.}}
