plaid redux

{ lee sutton vintage photostream } I felt like you all deserved a lovely picture to counteract the crazy plaid  I posted earlier. because plaids and checks can be done well. not that you needed reminding. although I love that I got so much reaction out of it. I should post ugly stuff more often... no. I shouldn't. { we're nearing the end... }

umbrella weekend

it promises to rain this weekend, so, umbrellas. I am completely in love this photo from oh brooke . and it's free to download and print as you like at big as 11"x 14". right now it's my happy work desktop. and that's all I have right now because it's been a long long day to end a long week. but oh so happy friday! {Installation by Ingo Maurer, photographed by Jesus Manuel Nieto Bobadilla via oh brooke }

librarians rock

these are the new library trucks in Kansas City. I love the graphics and the ads are thoughtful, clever and fun. one of the comments on librarian.net was "My only grump is that they went for a Jekyll/Hyde “Pharmacy”. That was begging for “Dr. Jekyll’s/Mr. Hyde’s Marvelous Tonic: You won’t recognize yourself.” agreed, that rocks. but, I ask you, what would you do for Nabokov? thoughts? { here } then { here }

love the bouquet... adore these flowers atop perfect little cakes... and if we were anywhere outdoors, I'm just not over the bride riding the bike, especially not since that's what G does for a living. { frolic }via{ martha }

music

While I love this song, and this video is really amazing I can't imagine walking down the aisle to Sia's - Breathe Me, as Jen from Green Wedding Shoes discussed here . While this song is incredibly moving, when I hear it, I will never think of anything other than the last episode of Six Feet Under. And while death do us part is in those old vows, I don't really want to think about that while I'm professing my love.  In any case, watch the video.  Sia - Breathe Me

and then sometimes

i stumble upon something so lovely in my own fair city... this is a high 5 pie  jar purchased at a local coffee shop called fuel . this individual pie is baked right into a small mason jar and comes with the lid. they also have full size pies and hand pies. apparently fuel has been selling these for about a year now, but i never make it there before 3pm on a sunday afternoon - long after these little guys would be sold out!  top pot made our doughnuts famous, cupcake royal and now trophy compete for cupcake fame, but now my all time favorite - pie! {so dale cooper} {on my way out the door, i saw they were hiring experienced baristas and like a nerd i inquired. i thought i was over all that. but sometimes i miss pouring flourettes into ceramic cups. it's true.}

so...

one day I was in anthropologie and i bought something little. I don't even remember what it was, but the lovely girl who sold it to me also asked me if i'd like to become an anthro member - at no cost to me, with no spam, just some emails with discounts and whatever. sure, i said. i already receive the anthropologie emails so what the heck. and then she hands me this adorable little bag which contained my new, matte yellow, typewriter embossed, anthro card and little, accordion style welcome card. this made my day. it reminded me of the beautiful little art books my friend Julia makes. in fact, i have been carrying around the whole bag in my wallet ever since because i love the whole design so much, why separate the pieces?  and so... my birthday is june 21, the summer solstice and fathers day this year. my first birthday card arrived in my mailbox just before the first of this, my birthday month. honestly, i love the design more than the 15% off. as usual, anthro has me.  and ...

it's all inside

I don't think I've ever noticed the inside of my security envelopes before. they are so lovely.  make these lovely little business card envelopes yourself out of security envelopes salvaged from your bills and junk mail. { how to } via { here } { here }

on exhaustion

i apologize for not posting in the last few days. my head is rumbling and tumbling with ideas, none of which i can fully pull into view. i have been super busy at work dealing with people who don't listen or read instructions. and having spent all day long in front of a computer typing to those who don't listen, i stopped wanting to type to anyone. and there are people in my life that i need to attend to. i have neglected my friends from far away and owe a few of them some graduation congratulations. and i owe much thanks and love to some of you, my fellow bloggers. you have been so kind. so this is my promise: i will be more attentive and express my love to those who I have neglected. I am off to work, but promise more soon. image from the lovely and amazing alicia bock. more on her soon. {here}

fifth avenue shoe repair

so in case anyone is wondering, this whole dress thing has really just rekindled my long lost love of fashion design oddity. after a quick bout of failure as a too young (too sensitive) girl in a cut-throat apparel design school I lost all but a glimmer of inspiration for beautiful design on the female form. occasionally it rears it's fire-y eyebrows at me and then I falter, buy a vogue and get bored. and then something like  this  crosses my path.          thank you daily candy .
