photo of the day: I don't want to win, I want to play

Yesterday, Mollie introduced me to The Idea Room's March Photo-a-day Challenge .  I love the inspiration to be creative and I love the simplicity of the assignment, after all, I tried to give myself the photo of the day assignment last year.  But somehow having someone else state the assignment gives it structure, which is much easier than making my own structure, and frankly, I love the clause that states: " What if you forget a day…or 2…or 20?   Not a big deal…really! Just start up again.  You can play catch up, or just start again.  No one will care…I promise.  Heck…I skipped plenty of days when life got too crazy and the prompts are mine!!  Share with your friends and family!  Have fun.  The point is to get you to record your everyday moments.  To capture a small snapshot of your day." In that clause is an allowance to try and fail, all the while knowing that the effort is in the journey, the trying, not in the completion of the ...

going backless

Someday, we'll have an island in the...   rustic bar stool and industrial stool  - both west elm ...kitchen (you thought I was going to say hawaii or bahamas or san juan islands at the very least.) G and I seem to like two different kinds of bar stools.  These go nicely together.  I'll take two of each please!   Oh, you mean I have to buy them?

hint of spring

it's amazing to me what sickness can do. this morning, despite the dreary cold, I was feeling quite anew. and I found myself totally inspired by this pretty post on coco+kelly. so inspired that I made my own little board. how do you like it? {clockwise: hat & feathers , d*s , pretty as a posie , coco+kelly , erin ever after , apartment 34 , little brown pen } and there is a hint in this picture of something fun to come...

when

I spent the majority of this last beautiful weekend indoors designing our wedding invitations. I figured that even though I can't walk or stand for long periods of time (having thrown out my back on my birthday) since now I can  sit in a chair rather than lay flat on my back, I would be at least a little productive. while I'm excited to be getting much better at wielding adobe illustrator, I kind of wish I had seen this telegram wedding invite two days ago.  Not to mention the rest of this stunning 20's inspired wedding would have been nice to see about two-three months ago, before it happened. Because, pretty much any of these dresses could have been the dress for me.  but especially that grey-blue one in the right pic. can you say dress remorse (again)? although I have no idea where I would have acquired such a beautiful dress. 100 layer cake & once wed

outside!

{here} plus {here} equals the best summer ever. Disclaimer: The top pic is the inspiration, the bottom is the diy. I don't know why the diy version has to look so half-assed. I love the idea but I feel like what they did with it is half done. and that table is way too large for that deck, and do I spy an ugly old wicker chair at the bottom of the pic ? and those pillows have got to go! I'm convinced that the pallet furniture could be fashioned to look a little more like the top pic. Now I just have to figure out if it's really possible in my backyard. The firepit is great, but I want more of an outdoor fireplace, because we're in a rental and I'm not sure what happens to a firepit when it rains - does it fill with water? Still, it's cold in Seattle and the second the sun comes out, we run outside whether the temp really permits. Our first bbq this year, I wore my winter coat. And last weekend, we had to break out the blankets once the sun started to go down.

wheels turning

this is just about me designing our invitations. I still don't know where I'm going with it, but...my wheels are a turnin'. { here }

still can't comment on Erin's blog...

So, I'll just link to it with a wink and a nod to how much I too adore Amelie. And Erin too of course. And what great wedding inspiration... hmm...

a little outside inspiration

Maybe I've been looking at too many wedding blogs, maybe I'm frustrated that spring isn't coming fast enough (because after two promising days, I can see the clouds gliding in again to remind me of where I live), and maybe it's because I can't play with my flowers because they aren't yet in season, but I'm at a loss for how to construct my wedding. After finishing the save-the-date design, I moved right on to flowers. Which is silly and weird because I'm having trouble with the invitation design so shouldn't I be focusing on that? But then, now I feel like we have to have a theme before I do the invitations, and, let's be realistic, I'm avoiding things that aren't as fun, as usual. But two things really excited me today: 1) I received the save-the-date's from Vista Print and they are super cute! (so I guess that means I should start that guest list spreadsheet now, sigh) But I won't be posting a photo of them, until I start mailin...

my board two

credits from the top: 100 layer cake , snippet & ink (?), me, a practical wedding , sws mag , jose villa , wiley valentine c/o style me pretty, style me pretty , all colors from 100 layer cake p.s. does this need some green? Something is definitely missing... p.p.s. does this throw everything off? { here }

color cunundrum

I just say this on 100 layer cake and as usual I am stupified with how beautiful. And now, trying to figure out how this integrates with my midnight blue dress and fire red dahlias. And my venue, the LUC venue below. Any words of wisdom?

on to the next thing

Now that the save-the-date is done, on to collecting the big plan for the invitations. So how shall I incorporate this from Mint design blog? hmm.

the long awaited inspiration board

watcha think?

and it begins.

From Snippet & Ink , just yesterday, a not white gown, and true style! I love Amy and Tony's wedding for more than just the black cocktail dress. Go check it out!

so I'll quit second guessing myself...

I'm sooooo back to wanting a dahlia bouquet. I just hadn't seen this before. From Meg's gorgeous amazing fantastic site a practical wedding - this is from Selina and Jeremy's real wedding . and um, hello? this lovely bride (Ember) has my colors exactly? Again, Meg has not let me down.

finally!

Meg of A Practical Wedding posted an offer by a former bride, Erika, who wants to give her wedding dress away. The kicker? It's a blue dress! Not a baby blue pastel, off-white number, but a true blue dress! And beautiful. I'm just so happy that occasionally someone wears something other than white - and someone posts them in their wedding blog. Thanks Meg, and thanks Erika for making me feel a little better about my choice. To see the conversation, and Erika's lovely dress, go here .

romantic

isn't it? from Anthropologie of course.

can I add this to our vows?

I saw this on Erin ever After who saw it on le love .  I love it too.  If not word for word, I will use this as inspiration.
