your'e a towel!

In my house, we use tea towels and linen napkins instead of paper (unless we're eating something ultra messy like pulled pork - which is, like, never). Even outside when we bbq, we drag out the linen and the real plates and the real glasses because, really, why would I be more likely to break stuff outside than inside. In fact, when stuff gets broken outside, it's technically already dirty out there, so whatever.

The only problem is that our roommate doesn't always wash his hands before wiping Sriracha all over the kitchen dishtowels. I have several that are beyond bleachable. So far, I have not dared upgrade from the good ol' IKEA towels and black restaurant supply napkins. Maybe someday I will be able to have and even use a $22 dishtowel (although on principal I'm not sure I should.) In the meantime, I will have to dream...

  1. beautiful towels. just beautiful. the price tag ... kinda crappy though. i gave up papertowels, so i abuse my dishtowels so spending more than $5 would be a bad idea.

  2. the vintage bicycle & that last one are especially rocktastic. they would be great in frames in a bathroom (no issues with condensation!).

  5. Love the color palette my dear. Have you tried Oxy Clean? I swear by it. I have removed engine grease from my wedding gown twice with it. Soak it over night then wash as usual. Let me know how it turns out.

  6. How on earth did you get engine grease on your wedding dress twice?
I have tried oxy clean but the stains have already been washed and dried in (through no fault of my own). And if you over bleach, it will fade or destroy any color that the towel has. So much for embroidery or screenprinting.

  7. I've been meaning to finally, fully make the conversion to all linens. This post is highly encouraging, to say the least. Although judging from our propensity for messes, I'm going to have to round out the pretty ones with lots of utilitarian ones. Mmmmm.

  8. I have a beautiful tea towel that I bought from leah duncan (http://www.leahduncan.com/) during a flea in Dallas and I love it so. And even then, parting with my $8 hurt me in the heart
