paint it orange

I've been a long time but erratic reader of good ol' design*sponge. And for a long time I got really bored with the same content over and over again - someone's 1920's apartment with high ceilings and authentic details, mildly redone in their mid-century modern aesthetic and self-made art. All things I love, but there are only so many I can take before I think, hmm, maybe I should just take pictures of my bedroom and see if she'll post them. Oh, wait, I'll have to clean up my crap first. But, in the last year, d*s has perked up a lot, and while I hate to repost from the big blogs, there's been some off-the-hook stuff.

This kitchen in particular reminds me of my friend Jase's, if he had double the size and room for a large table and, is that a washer??? Nice. So Jase, if you are reading this (because he rarely reads my blog) I think we should paint your kitchen orangey-yellow...  And it will make it seem like there is actually sun in this damned depressing ville where we live. (Yeah, yeah, I know the rain makes it green in Seattle, but enough is enough!  My veggies are stunted and if I don't get some sunshine in my face soon, I'll just stop getting out of bed.)

  1. I hear ya on the lack on sunshine--I'm in Vancouver, BC--all my plants are just sitting there...waiting...kind of like me! My kitchen is painted orange and so is my sister's. Fake sunshine it is!

  2. I have new love for D*S too. My orange kitchen really perks up blah days. Mine is more like popcicle orange though.

  3. Oh my god, I just bitched about the rain on my blog too. My veggies are laying down in the dirt like "I give up" and I totally feel the same way.
BTW my kitchen is yellow and white but in this flat dirty pale mustard-y yellow color that I've been BEGGING for us to repaint already! Gawd.

  4. we have flat yellow all over our living room (it's a rental and not our choice). it's not as sunny as I would hope. what I wouldn't give for a sunny kitchen big enough for a kitchen table... and some track lighting... ah...

  5. Hi! I know I've been MIA, but I'm back and catching up on your blog. I like yellow kitchens. My mom painted hers yellow and while I wasn't sure when I heard the idea, I love it now.

  7. Orange and Yellow? I'm not sure. I like the somber reclusivity of my red wall. But who knows. If I knew I was staying in this apt. for at least another 2 years, maybe. You'd have to help with some heavy sanding though!
