he already hid it from me

yesterday we picked up my custom wedding ring from Green Lake Jewelry Works. why custom? well, because I have tiny fingers. the ring pictured below is the ring that my ring was modeled after, only my sapphires are blue. It's tiny and delicate and I won't be wearing an engagement ring along side it because, well, I guess I'm just not that kind of girl. Right now I am wearing the third of my engagement rings. the first was the one G used to propose to me. it was a full size and a half too big and a little cumbersome. the second was the one I traded it in for, but it was actually a little too big and sharp, so it cut into the sides of my other fingers. It was also very plain, but I wanted a ring on my finger NOW! my third engagement ring is a cheap $33 set of silver stackers. The total expenditure of my rings? $52 + tax. eh. what can I say, I'm just not into diamonds. What was it Holly Golightly said ? "diamonds are tacky for women under 40." okay. that can be my excuse. and sapphires were where the "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue" came from. they are the ultimate wedding gem. screw DeBeers.

isn't it pretty?
now I just have to order his.

  1. Mine are tiny too! Trying rings on was always weird because they were always at least a size too big :( And yay for 3 engagement rings! haha

  5. A very pretty ring.

I always thought I wanted diamonds for my ring but I love my beautiful sapphire.

Oh how I would never change.

  6. a mindful bride, they were great! I do live nearby so I could go directly into the store, but honestly it could have easily been done on-line. A while back, I heard good things from another bride that ordered hers from them on-line. Since they were close, we went in and they were very nice and helpful. And the prices are actually fair too.

  7. Thanks! I will definitely have to check it out--I am in a ring quandry, but we need to get moving as we are quickly approaching the three month mark. Egad!

  8. Green Lake Jewelry Works only took a month to do the custom ring. If you pick one in the next month, you should still have it in time for your wedding. Of course, you'd have to consult with them about it.

  10. I love that ring! I too am one of those brides who doesn't wear her engagement ring with the wedding band. It looks a bit too gaudy for my taste.
