sneak peek

So, as of this morning, I am grumpy despite having my mom rescue me from my mistake.

Instead of using one of VistaPrint's standard designs, I created my own using a photo of G & me.  I had a coupon from VistaPrint too, but because I ended up uploading two photos, they ended up being a little more expensive than I expected - not that $38 is too bad for 100 postcards.

Unfortunately, as happy as I am with my own design, it just occurred to me this morning that I forgot to take into account the barcode sticker that USPS puts on all postcards and some envelopes. Now I'll have to use envelopes which luckily my mom has dumpster-dived from work. But now I need to print labels to cover the logo on the back flap, which of course, my mom has also helped me figure out, because she is so awesome. Unfortunately, maybe I just didn't sleep well, but I'm still grumpy that it won't go out as a postcard, and really, that I still don't have a majority of the addresses for those to be invited - especially those in faraway places on G's side of the family.

In any case, here is the design (and if you do your own, don't forget that USPS puts that stupid barcode sticker across the front like I did, sigh).

  1. I love it! Very cute design. I too used Vista Print and forgot about the barcode on my postcards. If it helps at all, they put that barcode on the back of mine so as to not cover up the date on the front of my postcard. Instead, they covered up my website address...oh the perils of designing your own invites.

  2. Did you have to ask them to do that, or were they just nice? I just received a mangled book in the mail, so right now I'm feeling like the USPS may just be against me.

  3. They did it of their own accord because unfortunately no one in my camp is as smart as your mother so we didn't figure it out till well after the god forsaken things had been mailed. I bet if you brought them into the post office and asked them to place the barcodes on the back they would (begrudgingly) That way you could save money on postage

  4. I had no idea about this potential problem--I haven't even sent out half my save the dates, yet, so I am going to do some recon to see how they arrived (because they don't have a return address, so they aren't coming back to me).

  7. Very cute! Care to send me the image and I'll blog about how sweet it is and your incredibly sage advice about the barcode on Seattle Style?
