uninvited

I've been pretty tight-lipped about the drama in my life lately.  Sometimes I think that I should be less open with you, my dear readers, because I don't necessarily know who you are, because by putting myself out there, here, I open myself up to the cruelty of anonymous trolls.  But all this quiet has only caused me to open up more in real life which I feel has been even more detrimental. There is nothing like the instant gratification of getting the wrong response to what you are trying to say - in person. The look. The screwing up of the forehead, the quick, interrupting response before you've entirely composed your thoughts, the blank look of misunderstanding. Well. Suffice it to say that I have done a lot of opening up in person lately and it hasn't worked out so well. Don't get me wrong, I've actually had a lot of moral support lately as well, but I'm a dweller, and this thing has been dragging out and so I keep dwelling and I'm frankly, annoying m...

polka dot

so. this is how it works out with me. I had half a post written for you for today but then, just as I'm thinking I should post it, I was reminded that today is Bastille Day . Actually, I knew it was Bastille Day but just like many things of late, it didn't register with me until I saw this glorious Amelie post on Hindsight Bride . Ah, Amelie . And I just saw the new Jean-Pierre Jeunet film on Monday. It was tres bien, mais pas d'Amelie (feel free to correct my francais. c'est tres terrible). Anyway, I knew it was Bastille Day because instead of blogging, I have been watching le tour de france . G got cable for the first time in 10 years because he wanted to watch it, so we've been recording it on the dvr. And the thing is, it only stays interesting if I watch every stage because otherwise, I forget who the important players are (my friend Sally would be shaking his head right now. but then he'd smile and say, "it's okay darlin'! I'm just gla...

traveling circus?

so I've been thinking about what to do with all of this pent up event energy. do I have it in me to throw a theme party that my friends who are bbq people might get behind? but it's funny how you put certain questions to the world and the answers come back to you. the new anthropologie catalog fell in my lap all full of circus bits and then G and I went to see the imaginarium of dr. parnassus and then it struck me: traveling circus theme party. costume required. for me, I'm thinking stripes and tulle. I've already gone to h&m to purchase black and white stripey things (because of course H&M for that). and i've got enough tulle bits and pieces from planning the wedding gown that all I have left now is to play. { ouma }
