for the husbands and husbands to be

I admit it: I like action movies. and stupid comedies. sometimes more than good movies because when choosing entertainment, I like to laugh. I liked Kick Ass. I liked Wanted. I liked Iron Man (although Iron Man 2 was a huge disappointment - Jason Theroux, don't f@#$ up Zoolander 2). I have seen Zoolander too many times too count. I have seen Eurotrip too many times to count.  I have seen Step Up 3D in the theater (my husband saw it twice). So when I see trailers like this one, I get excited. I also own the entire series of Buffy the Vampire Slayer on dvd. If you don't like it, that's fine, but I have turned many naysayers to yaysayers with Buffy. Admit it, you want to see a girl kick some ass. It feels good. And your man, he probably likes it too.

figs

{ figs } Back when G and I were looking about for ties, I hunted a bit on-line by myself, but I knew, as picky as he is, that he would have his say in what he wore. In the end he bought a gorgeous tie that went beautifully with my dress. But, had I seen these first, I think we may have gone in a different direction. Not only are these some of the coolest ties I've ever seen, but for every tie purchase, FIGS gives a school uniform to a child in Africa in order for them to attend school . G doesn't wear ties on a day to day basis, but I may have to start finding some men who do. Or me. I think I may have to have one of those pure british woolen ties in pink. and did you see the one with the little bicycles? and hello, polka dots!

hint hint

While it seems somehow wrong to cover up the sleek, modern look of the macbookPro, it is advisable to protect our lovely and ever so useful laptops. This is the BookBook hardback leather case by twelve south . If the husband didn't prefer his desktop computer to a laptop, perhaps if the laptop weren't mine, this would make a great Valentine's gift for him. But in the space that we share perhaps it wouldn't be the worst gift for me, hint hint. {found via oh joy! } what are you getting/making your man for valentine's day? please use detailed descriptions and perhaps even website references... ;)

be mine again

I'll be honest. Yet again, I am at a loss for fantastic gift ideas for my man. For eight of the nine years of our relationship, st. valentine's day has meant very little to us. Until last year, when G picked valentine's day to propose marriage to me (part of me can't believe that in under one year we got engaged and married - although if I could go back and do it all over, I think I would have done it in three months. oh if...). Although it still strikes me as a little odd that my unconventional husband picked such a predictable holiday on which to propose, his reasoning is sound -- if we already have to feel vaguely uneasy about celebrating/not-celebrating st. valentine's, now we have a real reason to celebrate. Except that we are not the kind of couple that elbows other couples to show we love each other in fancy restaurants, and have you noticed how freakin' expensive flowers and chocolates and vacation spots become on valentine's day, this year convenien...

cufflinks

Now, I think G said he didn't need or want cufflinks, but then again... I think he'd love these anyway. From London Particular on Etsy . (thanks for the tip from Seattle Style . I just love it when people tell me about cool stuff on my own blog! thanks for reading!)

the engagement/wedding present

I had been looking for a watch for G's engagement/wedding present and when I didn't immediately find one, I got frustrated. G has been watch free for quite a while now, since he broke the face of the Swiss Army watch I'd bought him for a birthday present (ages ago), for the third (!) time. And then I came home, and G was looking at crazy amazing watches, so I told him what I was looking for. I really should have known better than to pick something out for him, he's too picky anyway. Then Sara posted the present she bought for her hubby, which is so awesome! From watchismo - the Ray. And I love that it's so green conscious too.
